Going Green and Marketing

Going Green and Marketing

I had a “V-8” moment. A friend and I went to a Green Expo this past weekend. The amount of people who attended was astounding. Within the sea of venders a green professional organizer caught my attention. Her booth was appealing yet practical. She offered a variety of colorful items made from recycled materials.

After a moment or two of reviewing her booth, she and I got into an enjoyable and enlightening conversation about organization and design. The more we talked the more I wondered what made her a “Green Professional” Organizer.

Always trying to keep an open eye to new marketing ideas, I quenched my curiosity. She said, “I reuse the items my client has in their home.” She went on to tell me, “Often, all it takes is to think outside the box.”

That’s when the “V-8” moment hit me. Why have I not thought of GREEN MARKETING before? As designers, we recycle all the time. Without realizing it, the foundation of our business is to renew, reuse and recycle.

It’s resourceful for you to highlight something you are already doing to promote your business. After all, isn’t that the goal...to get the most out of spending the least amount of money?

In closing I have a few questions for you to ponder. What are you doing to take advantage of Green Marketing? Do you have recycle logos on your site(s)? Is there “green” copy and information to entice potential clients to call you? If not, might I suggest you take advantage of going green marketing?  After all, your goal is to have your business work for you, not for you to work for your business.

Getting out of the box with a fresh approach can renew your perspective. More importantly, going green with marketing has the potential for your business to grow.

Love your link to V-8! I have been a "Green" Stager/Decorator since I could get a dime out of my pocket at the local Rummage/Garage or Flea Market.
While speaking at the Cleveland Home & Garden show this year I spoke about "Redesign is the original GRENN Design".

I have recently launched my business, and as gallery photos are in short supply I needed to get creative on my website. Voila, I used symbols to "brand" each area of my business... Redesign naturally was branded with the universal Recycle symbol - it shows up all over my website!
