If you can't sign in, please select the issue that applies to you below. This troubleshooter will guide you through 5-10 questions, depending on the options you select.

Reset your password now. You may need to wait up to 24 hours to receive our email. If you did not receive an email after waiting for 24 hours, please submit another request.

Can't access your inbox or secondary email address to receive our password-assistance message?

• If you use Gmail, first try to answer your secret question. If you can't answer your secret question, re-enter your account username on the password-assistance page.
• If you don't use Gmail, re-enter your account username on the password-assistance page.

After typing the wavy characters in the word verification section, you'll have the option to contact us.

If you still have access to the email address you use to sign in, reset your password to prevent anyone else from accessing your account again in the future.

If you aren't receiving the password-assistance email, please fill out our form.

If you can't remember your username, follow these steps to retrieve it:

1. Visit the Gmail username-recovery page.
2. Enter your secondary email address in the 'Email' field.
3. Click Submit.
4. Type the letters in the distorted picture in the appropriate field, and click Submit. A list of any usernames associated with that secondary email address will be sent to the address you provided.

If you didn't enter an alternate email address when you created your Gmail address, but you were invited to Gmail, you may be able to retrieve your username by clicking the link in your Gmail invitation.

Enter the username or email address you think you used to create your account on the password-assistance page and Click Submit. Then type the letters in the distorted picture and click Submit again.

Great! Sign in with your username and password.

If you see a message that there are no accounts with the email address you entered, try other email addresses you may have used. If none of these work, it's possible that you made a typo when signing up.

If you use any of the following products, you may need to update your sign-in information: Blogger, AdWords, AdSense, YouTube, DoubleClick

It's also possible that you do not have a Google Account. You can create an account now.

Good. Please enter your Gmail username on the password-assistance page and enter the letters from the distorted picture. You'll receive a message at your secondary address.

Click the link in the email to reset your password. Once you reset it, you should be able to sign in to your Google Account.

1. Check your inbox for an email with the subject line 'Google Password Assistance.'

   If you don't use Gmail, check the inbox of the email address you use to sign in to your account. If you use Gmail, check the inbox of the alternate email address you provided when you signed up for Gmail. If you didn't provide an alternate email address, wait 24 hours and answer your security question.

2. Check your Spam or Bulk Mail folders..

   It's possible that the email we tried to send you was caught by a spam or bulk mail filter in your email system. Look for an email from Google with the subject line 'Google Password Assistance.' If you don't find the email in these folders, add accounts-noreply@google.com to your address book, and request another password-assistance email.

3. Still haven't received the email? Contact your email provider.

   If you requested another password-reset link after adding accounts-noreply@google.com to your address book or spam filter's whitelist, and you still don't find it, please let your email provider know that you're unable to receive mail from the address accounts-noreply@google.com

Please wait 24 hours, then visit the password-assistance page. Enter your username and click Submit. You should now be able to answer your security question.

Great. Sign in on the Google Accounts homepage with your new password.

You should receive a password-assistance email at the email address you used to create your account.

Try opening a new browser window. If this doesn't help, clear your cache and cookies.

If you're accessing Google Accounts from behind a firewall, proxy, or anti-virus program, temporarily disable the program and try signing in again. If the problem is still unresolved, please send us your feedback.

You may be accidentally putting an extra space in the middle of your username.

There are other reasons you may also be getting this error message:

• There's more than one '@' sign.
• The username is longer than 300 characters.
• You're entering '@gmail' or '@yahoo' instead of '@gmail.com' or '@yahoo.com'

Request a new recovery code on the password-assistance page. After entering your username and submitting the CAPTCHA, you'll get to the page where you can enter your code. Then, enter the recovery code you received earlier and click Submit.

Note: The recovery code doesn't change, so you can enter the first code you received without waiting for the new code to arrive.
